Background Remover - Remove Image Background Online with HD AI

Upload a photo and get a clean cut-out with a transparent or coloured background. The AI runs inside your browser, so your picture stays private.

What is Background Remover?

A background remover separates the main subject of a photo - a person, product, animal or logo - from everything behind it. This tool uses a high-resolution AI model (IS-Net) that looks at the picture at 1024 x 1024 pixels, so fine details like hair, fur and thin lines are kept. It also removes stray text, watermarks and specks, cleans light halos from the edges and saves a transparent PNG or a photo on a solid colour. Everything runs in your browser; your picture is never uploaded.

How to use Background Remover

1Upload your photo (JPG, PNG or WebP).
2Keep the method on Auto for the best HD result. The first time, the AI model downloads once (about 46 MB) and is then cached.
3Choose Transparent PNG or a solid colour. Use 'Crop to object' to trim empty space.
4Press Start, wait a few seconds, and download the result.

Tips for best results

  • Use a sharp photo where the subject contrasts with the background.
  • Edge softness 1-2 suits most photos; use 0 for crisp logos and 3+ for hair.
  • If a light outline remains, set 'Remove light halo' to Strong or use Extra edge shrink 1-2.
  • The first run is slower because the model downloads once; later runs are faster.

How the background remover works

A compact neural network (U2-Net) runs inside your browser using WebAssembly. It looks at the whole picture, works out which part is the main object and creates a mask that hides everything else. The first time you use the tool it downloads the small model from this site and keeps it in your browser cache. Your photo is never uploaded to any server.

Background Remover - frequently asked questions

How do I remove the background from a photo?

Upload the photo, keep Method on Auto, choose Transparent PNG and press Start. Download the result when it is ready.

Is the Background Remover really free and private?

Yes. It is free, needs no account and the AI runs entirely inside your browser, so your photo is not uploaded.

Why is the first photo slow?

The AI model (about 46 MB) is downloaded once and then cached by your browser. After that it is much faster.

Why are some edges rough?

Fine hair, glass and very busy scenes can look rough. Try a higher edge softness, a sharper photo or the Strong halo option.

Can I change the background colour?

Yes. Choose 'Solid colour' in Output and pick any colour, for example white or blue for ID photos.

What file do I get?

A PNG with a transparent background, or a PNG on the colour you chose.

Is this really AI?

Yes. The tool uses a small neural network that runs on your own device, so it can handle photos with busy or multicoloured backgrounds, not just plain walls.

Why is the first photo slow?

The first run downloads the model and starts the engine, which can take a few seconds. After that the tool is much faster.

Why are some edges rough?

The model is small to keep the page fast, so fine hair, glass and very busy scenes can look rough. Try a higher edge softness, or a sharper photo with better contrast against the background.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The model runs entirely in your browser and your picture stays on your device.

Is it free and private?

Yes. AllrounderBox is free, needs no sign-up and never uploads your files – processing happens on your own device.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers.
